WINE AND DINE - MARCH 2008

Every year around the time that the Unit started in 2002 we have a “Wine and Dine” evening to mark our birthday. We’ll admit it wasn’t an original idea and was creatively swiped from a Venture Scout website, but it’s still a good way of marking the anniversary and is the one time in the year when Unit members get to see each other dressed as they never would normally.

For obvious reasons it’s easier to hold it in the Badger Hill Scout HQ we use rather than a pub or restaurant, but this does give us the problem of trying to make it look a little less like a Scout HQ which is like trying to disguise an elephant - no matter what you do you still know what it is!

Food-wise we’ve experimented with various options and the best so far is for people to write down what they want when they arrive, then we have a willing mum (thanks Jackie!) who fetches it from the local Indian and Chinese takeaway while we’re socialising and having a drink.....non-alcoholic of course ;-)
