MAULDEN, BEDFORDSHIRE

The Legal Stuff

We’re Brocks Explorer Scout Unit, or Brocks E.S.U. for short. If you didn’t know, “Brock” is a traditional country name for an older, wiser, craftier Badger. Several of our Explorers came from Badger Hill Scout Group so without going into detail we can say that our name is very appropriate.......

We started in 2002 with nine Explorers and one leader as the first Explorer Unit in Bedfordshire and one of the first in the UK. We are partnered with Badger Hill Scout Group and use their HQ  in Maulden for our normal Thursday evening meetings.

Explorers range in age from 14 to 17 and the number of people in the Unit varies as new people join and others “retire” when they turn 18 - our normal maximum number of members is mid to upper 20’s.

Many of our Explorers didn’t know each other before they joined and the current ones come from eight different villages and go to five different schools and colleges.

Some of them have a Scout or Guiding background, but some have never been in either so for anyone thinking of joining we suggest you get in touch, give it a try to see if it’s your scene, and then decide - nearly everyone stays though :-)

Have a look around our website and at our photo collections on the Flickr website which will give you a flavour of some of the activities and events we do - click on http://www.flickr.com/photos/40881320@N04/sets/ and then If you like what you see and want to know more, email us at webmaster@brocks-explorers.org.uk and we’ll get back to you.
